The first bullet point mentions three fantastic writers who have all graced the pages of Reason and never been on the pod: Emily Yoffe, Elizabeth Nolan Brown, and Cathy Young. It would be great to see them on!
I like the Substack! Upgraded my cheap self to NFC, although maybe not OG NFC level (before Moynihan & Kmele raise their eyebrows, I did prioritize the new subscription above an item or two for my daughter’s wedding). Will say the Substack app for podcast listening is in need of improvement, but I have faith they’ll take care of it LONG before either Spotify or Apple improves theirs. Cheers!
Substack is just a far better platform and experience overall. Even just little stuff like having the public and private pods on the same RSS feed now are great. And if it's enabling you guys to keep throwing out bonus posts like this with "supplementary content" and other thoughts, all the better. Would love to see maybe a semi-regular thing on just "books we've read lately," not even necessarily with just recommendations but stuff you're reading and your initial reactions to them.
Overall super happy with the experience here gentlemen. Haha yeah I already wasted my audible credit on one of Matt’s book recommendations. Keep it up.
I love this podcast. Mostly because it's fun to listen to. Even if you guys are totally wrong about public education and teacher's unions (pro tip: they really don't have all that much power, I'm in one), the pod is very entertaining. So much that I went ahead and did the yearly $100 sub as that seemed to make the most sense. I look forward to more drunken content although I won't be at the live event next week since it is a school night.
You're doing great! TFC was the last of my main podcasts that was still on Patreon. Substack > Patreon by a longshot. Rumor has it that Moynihan now has a tramp stamp with the Substack logo ... any truth to that?
I kind of like the idea that we're a demanding bunch who are giving Substack customer service a bit of a headache, 'who are all of these people who keep wanting to pay more?!' Best thing so far is how notifications for newly posted content seem to arrive when you all actually post things instead of hours later - in the beforetimes it was like we were stuck in the dark ages.
I immediately pivoted to singing "Bazelon Sisters" in my worst Donald Fagen voice once the David Gray reaction had transitioned into a discussion of her siblings - material for the communist interrogation rematch episode.
Howdy, everyone. Love the show, and finally got tired of the boys bad-mouthing my frugal ways. Finally realized they're right, I don't deserve all this goodness for free, so I'm a paid subscriber now. Go me! :-)

Okay you got me. I'll resubscribe. But you better make good on those inappropriate accents.

I’m happy so far. I didn’t care for patreon so I never subscribed but your move to Substack convinced me to pay up. Keep up the good work!
I see you’re looking to hit all the big cities with live shows. Toledo is next after those, right? ....

Well, I finally subscribed after being assured that I would still receive my free month. I'm watching you chiselers!

I’m starting to get nervous. 8:00pm est.. Has the computer bested Matt like Tyson beating Michael Spinks?

So, we might have paid more attention to the ‘hopefully’ part…
